Nice charger... November 12, 2008 Floyd Goodrich (Alta Loma, CA USA) This is my first charger and I received it 36 hours after ordering it, bravo!. I wanted something simple to use so I could cut down on using throwaway AA cells for my digital camera. This is absurdly easy to use, just pop in the rechargeable batteries, the indicator lights turn red, the batteries charge and then the indicator lights turn green when the charging is done, what could be easier? I wasn't looking for a lot of information about the charging, just wanted to know it was charging and when it was done charging. So far I am very pleased with this nice looking and well built unit. I highly recommend for light duty users like me.
Works well only as a Nimh battery charger October 13, 2008 135mph (United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this unit to primarily serve as a portable power source for my PDA and other devices that use AA batteries so this product seemed to be what I was looking for. It works very well as a nimh battery charger. Takes about 3-4 hours to charge and has overcharge protection so you dont kill the batteries prematurely. The folding AC plug is built into the unit so there is no separate adapter to worry about. It can also plug into a vehicles 12V socket (12V cable included). Unfortunately the product did not work as expected as a USB portable power source for the PDA. It will only provide about 20% charge to the PDA then shut off which makes it all but useless as portable power source. I'll keep the product because the Nimh charging works very well, but the search for a portable power source continues.
Great for Travel or Home use September 6, 2008 LarK (Colorado) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this charger along with an extra 4 pack of each type (AA,AAA) NiMH pre-charged rechargeable battery. This is a good compact unit, great for travel or home use, and the USB connection is a nice touch that can really come in handy. The car lighter adapter will also come in handy for road trips. It might be better if there was a way to attach the adapter to the unit somehow or perhaps a cloth pouch to keep things together but a plastic storage bag will do the job.
Perfect Charger July 1, 2008 photofanatic 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I've done a lot of research on batteries and chargers, and I have to say I'm impressed with this charger. I am a photographer, and my fancy flashes are only as good as the batteries they use. Other reviews have already stated the high points: gentle charge rate (550 mA is great); individual charging of batteries (absolutely vital); intelligent shutoff (does not overcharge). On top of these, it runs off of 12V and any AC wall power in the world (120-240V), and it charges USB devices. It also will charge a USB device off of 4 charged batteries. It's a dream come true. One thing to note: You cannot charge batteries AND charge a USB device at the same time. You have to pick one or the other. But this is a very minor issue for something so functional, portable, and inexpensive. Assuming it doesn't die in two months, this is the best consumer charger that is widely available. (I also have the Maha C-9000, which I love, but is not for the faint of heart. The Maha C401FS is also very good.) If you're even considering buying one of those 15-minute chargers, PLEASE don't. It will destroy your batteries by cooking them at a high temperature. Buy this one, instead. Just get an extra set of batteries to swap out while the others are charging, if you need the quick turnaround.
Best charger I've ever had! June 30, 2008 Noah E. Schumaker (Fairmont, WV USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this based upon the engineer guys review. I'm happy I did! It works perfectly for all of my rechargeable batteries. I have some older ones from Rayovac, some from only half a year ago that are Energizer and a handful that I recently bought that are Rayovac. They all charge perfectly in this device. I consider the 2 AA and 2 AAA that come with it a bonus. It doesn't get hot and it's not noisy either. You can plug it into just about anything to boot! :D
