An Excellent Double Album August 7, 2005 Mike Smith This was one of my first "far out" albums. Both discs contain a healthy portion of excellent tracks that are, well, far out. These CDs could easily transport you to another realm in your mind, someplace quiet and peaceful or someplace psychedelic. Do not operate heavy machinery when listening to this album.
Uneven compilation, wins points for aural gems January 9, 2004 Brad Torgersen (Seattle, WA, USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was originally attracted to buy this two-disc compilation because it contains Joey Beltram's haunting 'Across the Hemisphere'. Once I listened to it enough, other tracks began to stand out too. Cavestar's 'Quiet Light' is a great one. But how to explain mediocre noisefests like 'Call and See' by Storm? As ambient compilations go, I've heard better. This one has hits, and it has misses. If you are a ravenous collector like me, you can handle the misses in order to have the hits. If you're new to the genre, I suggest maybe investigating work by a real master of space music, like Jonn Serrie, or maybe Steve Roach, though you have to be careful with Roach. Anyway, like I said, it's worth the winners, but I can't rate it higher due to some of the losers.
Space Music at its best March 20, 1999 To me, this is what the genre is all about. Most of the tracks on these CDs make me feel like I'm on another world, or drifting through space. Very relaxing, too. Never gets old for me
Fascinating simple tracks. March 7, 1999 Great overall. I loved few simple tracks, especially S-Ray. You need a good stereo system to enjoy the deep vibes.
Tranquility meshed with Other-Worldness January 26, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Some tracks are HiGhLy relaxing- Do not drive on Wandjina! Others give rise to vast space images. A few are not worth listening to more than once, but overall, it is a high quality relaxation/space music/meditation album.
