I read the reviews and thought I was going to buy a decent battery charger considering the hefty price. It's way too complicated. It may be fine if you have the hours to invest to read the poorly written manual. I thought this would improve the battery life in my portable electronics but it didn't. The #3 button on top is not correctly installed so the manufacturing quality is suspect. It works no better than the freebie charger I got with my rechargeable batteries.
Misleading advertising re: the C and D adaptors January 2, 2009 I. M. Fletcher (Indianapolis, IN USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this product a few days ago, and it seems to work pretty well. My unit is v35, so hopefully I will not have any overheating problems. A couple of rechargeable AAAs I had sitting in a drawer were not recognized when I put them in; I charged them for an hour or so in another charger and then it recognized and charged them. This is a pretty annoying problem but not insurmountable. My main problem, and the reason for the 4 star rating, is the C and D adapters that come with it. My kids have a lot of toys that take Cs and Ds so i was looking forward to using them; I had even decided which toys I was going to try them in first. However, the D adapters won't work unless you put the C adapters into them! IOW, to use a D adapter you have to put the AA into the C adapter, and then put the C adapter into the D adapter! So if you want to use the 4 D adapters that come with this product, you won't be able to use the C adapters. This strikes me as a case of misleading advertising, as the specs say that it comes with 4 D adapters AND 4 C adapters, but it should say that you get 4 D adapters OR 4 C adapters, OR some combination thereof. There is no discernible reason why they couldn't make the D adapters accept a AA without the C adapters. So now I'm stuck buying more C adapters. However, I paid $39.99 for this product one week ago, and I see that it is now going for $69.99, so I guess I should count my blessings.
La Crosse, do your job or give some money to NLee the engineer January 1, 2009 Genghis Khan (Bay Area, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Between two wiimotes, two guitar controllers, bunch of wireless PS2 and Xbox controllers, I figured it would make sense to put a rechargeable batter/charger combo on my X-Mas wish list. Brother-in-law came through and I received this thing in the mail yesterday. I have no interest in refreshing old batteries. I just want to plug in rechargeable batteries into the unit and end up with recharged batteries. Then bam, out of the box, one of the batteries doesn't register and I get the "NULL" message. I visit the lacrossetechnology website and find no info about this. After fiddling around the unit for about half an hour, trying to figure out what I could be doing wrong, I finally found the solution I need from NLee's review below. Here's my problem with this situation. The whole NULL battery thing seems like a common enough problem that it warrants a noticeable warning either in the instruction manual or on the website with an explanation and a solution. Yet, there is no mention of this. So people have to go online, google the solution or depend on good Samaritans like NLee. This is just poor customer service and takes away from what I can see is a good product.

Best charger I have ever used.... December 27, 2008 Keith Van Ryn (Irmo, SC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this charger after buying the Duracell 15 minute charger. The Duracell would eat up the batteries, but this La Crosse unit is much better and gives the batteries a much longer life. I highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants an excellent charger with a lot of features. Also, it comes with C and D adapters you plug your AA batteries into to run something that requires those two batteries.
