Product Description The Wald 582 sets the standard for ingenuity when it comes to rear baskets. Mounting to the side of almost any rear rack, this nimble basket is the perfect size for packing 1-2 bags of groceries while balancing your load. When not in use, the base of the basket pivots up allowing the side walls to collapse. A simple clamp at the top of the side panels keeps everything secured while the basket is folded up to one inch thick

good value, very convenient August 28, 2008 lynx the baskets work very well, fold away thin enough i can ignore them when not in use, and easily take a large paper grocery bag each when folded out. they turned my commuter bike into a grocery getter; no more balancing stuff in my hands or on the handlebars when riding!
some reviews say the standard, included hardware is difficult to install onto cargo racks made from "large" tubes. this is true. for reference, a Topeak Explorer rack --- with tubes about 10mm across, a bit less than three-eighths of an inch --- counts as "large". it can still be done with some bending, but it might have been easier to get some hose clamps or something from the hardware store.
installation in general is a fiddly affair calling for thin, nimble fingers. tools with long handles and magnetic tips would also help. not impossible for a regular person to do, but you may be in for about half an hour of cussing at it --- that's what it took me. it's on solidly now, though, and no rattling so far.
also recommended: Pyramid Bicycle Bungie Cargo Net, Black --- makes sure nothing will bounce out the top of the baskets, even on a bumpy road. this could be just a little larger, it doesn't quite cover the whole top of both baskets at once, but it does the job well enough.
Folding Wald 582 baskets August 24, 2008 Russell Steiner (Gillette Wyoming) the baskets are easy to install, very sturdy and well built. perfect for halling just about anything that will fit. The folding quality is a great idea, makes storage alot easier. Great product.
Just what I was wanted. August 17, 2008 Kristin Omdahl (Michigan, USA) I am very happy with my bicycle racks. They are just what I wanted. The assembly was quick and easy, the racks fold up nicely when not in use, and they hold a lot of things! I like taking packages to the post office by bike. When the racks are opened, the top surface is quite large. With a bungee cord, I can even strap large boxes over the whole rack system.

These are fantastic. August 14, 2008 The Hav (Vancouver, WA) I purchased these, so I could run more errands using my bike. They attached easily, and I really like the fact that they are securely fixed to my bike rack and that they fold up. I can haul quite a few groceries with them. A gallon of milk and two 2-liter bottles of soda? No problem. The now-popular reusable grocery bags fit as well. My lunch cooler even fits. My only suggestion is to make sure you place them far back enough, so your heels don't catch. Also, they do add some weight, making lifting my bike in and out of my truck a little more of a chore. However, I've had my bike for 16 years, and with these racks, I'm riding more than ever.
